Aurora Woman Killed after Rollover Crash – Parker Personal Injury Attorney

A 21-year-old Aurora woman died after a rollover crash early Thursday morning. 9News.com reports that Yoana Rodriguez’s car rolled after swerving to avoid debris on Tower Road near 97th Avenue in Commerce City. Rodriguez was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. A 2-year-old girl whose identity has not been released survived the crash with minor injuries. Gary Mackey, who witnessed the accident, found the little girl strapped in her car sit and was able to pull her out of the wreckage. The crash remains under investigation.

According to a 2004 CBSNews.com report, road debris causes “25,000 accidents – and nearly 100 deaths – each year.” The report goes on to encourage drivers to be vigilant about securing loads in the back of trucks or strapped to the tops of cars, warns drivers to be on the look out for vehicles with loose or improperly secured loads of debris (avoiding driving too close to such vehicles), and adds that sometimes “it’s better to drive over small debris” than it is to swerve to avoid it.
